Deep cleaning

Deep cleaning for the parts of the house a regular visit never reaches

A deep clean is where the baseboards, the grime around the cabinet pulls, the top of the fridge and the inside of the oven finally get their turn. It is the right first visit and the right twice-a-year reset.

A regular cleaning keeps up with what a household does in a week. A deep cleaning deals with what builds up over months: grease on the range hood and cabinet fronts, dust on the ceiling fan blades and air vents, soap scum and hard-water spots on shower glass, scuffs on doors and switch plates, and the gray line that collects along every baseboard. In Houston add humidity to the list. Bathrooms that never quite dry out between showers grow mildew in the grout and caulk, and window sills collect pollen and grit from spring through fall.

We work top to bottom, room by room, so nothing falls back onto a surface already done. Fans, vents, light fixtures and the tops of cabinets come first. Then walls are spot-cleaned, doors and frames wiped, cabinet fronts degreased, and appliances cleaned outside and, on request, inside. Bathrooms get a scrub of grout lines, glass and fixtures. Baseboards are wiped by hand, not swept with a duster. Floors are vacuumed with HEPA filtration, then mopped, last.

Book a deep clean as the first visit before regular service, before a holiday or a family visit, after a renovation that left only light dust (heavy dust is a post-construction clean), when a home is being listed for sale, or as a spring and fall reset. Most homes need one or two a year.

Questions about deep cleaning

How long does a deep cleaning take?

A three-bedroom, two-bath home usually takes a crew of two between four and six hours. Larger homes may take a crew of three or a second visit.

How often should a house be deep cleaned?

Once or twice a year for a home on a regular cleaning plan. Homes without regular cleaning benefit from a deep clean every three or four months.

Is deep cleaning the same as move-out cleaning?

Close, but not quite. A move-out clean assumes an empty home and includes the insides of every cabinet, drawer and appliance. A deep clean works around your furniture and belongings.

Do you move furniture?

We move light furniture to clean underneath and behind it. Heavy pieces such as beds, sofas and full bookcases stay where they are unless you arrange it in advance.

Can you clean mold in the bathroom?

We remove surface mildew from grout, caulk and tile. Mold that has gone into drywall, behind tile or into the ceiling is a remediation job for a licensed mold remediator in Texas, and we will tell you if we see signs of it.

What should I do before a deep clean?

Clear counters and floors as much as you can, and set aside anything fragile you would rather handle yourself.
